What does tallow do for skin?

Tallow closely resembles human skin lipids, making it deeply nourishing and supportive of the skin barrier.

Can this be used on baby's skin?

Yes, this is formulated to use even on baby’s delicate skin.

Where is your tallow sourced from?

Our organic tallow from suet is exclusively sourced from Fatworks.

Why are dermatologists against tallow?

Some dermatologists prefer ingredients backed by large clinical studies, while others generally advise against using beef tallow on the face because it is heavy and highly comedogenic (pore-clogging), which can trigger cystic acne. Additionally, unregulated tallow products lack preservatives, posing a risk for bacterial contamination, and their composition can easily vary, potentially causing irritation. For our tallow, we always use certified organic grass-fed and grass-finished tallow. We also use frankincense resin in many of our tallow products to help fight again acne prone skin and we never use any ingredients that would promote the growth of bacteria. For greasy skin, we recommend a plant based oil formula with frankincense resin like our Quad Blend Facial Serum.

Does tallow age your skin?

No. Tallow is commonly used to support moisture and skin barrier function.

Why did people stop using tallow?

People moved away from tallow-based skincare as commercial beauty products became more popular. Manufacturers began favoring petroleum-derived ingredients, synthetic additives, and products with longer shelf lives that could be mass-produced. More recently, plant-based beauty trends and vegan lifestyles have also contributed to the decline of traditional animal-based skincare. Today, many people are rediscovering grass-fed tallow for its simple ingredients and skin-nourishing properties.

Can I still use my tallow based product if it arrives melted?

Absolutely! Tallow naturally melts in warm temperatures but does not lose its quality or effectiveness. Simply let it cool at room temperature or refrigerate it briefly to firm it back up. The texture may change slightly after re-solidifying, but the product will perform just as intended. Since our products are made with natural ingredients and no synthetic stabilizers, seasonal softening is completely normal.
